Practice #9: Reinforce your desires with a simple object. Reinforcing your goals and affirmations on a daily basis is an important part of bringing more happiness and success into your life. Magnify your intentions by using multiple senses to reinforce your desires. This is why we write down our goal statements and also say them out loud. You’re activating both your visual and auditory senses. Add another sense with a personal object, an anchor object, to give you a positive reminder of your goals and intentions.
How to select your object
The anchor object should be small so you can carry it with you, wear it or place it on your desk. The object should be something for which you have a positive association. Reject anything that carries a negative feeling. You can use something you already have or search for something new. The object preferably has a natural link to your goal or affirmation. When you’ve selected your anchor object, state your affirmation while touching the object.
Anchor object examples
Jewelry, photographs, coins, crystals or small statuettes are all potential anchor objects. I use several anchor objects. On my desk is a small heart of rose quartz that I can slip into my pocket. It reminds me to have an open heart. I find it enormously helpful if I’m dealing with difficult situations. I also have a small bowl that’s lined with a bright golden glaze. Its luminescence reminds me that each day is getting brighter and better. This is an object that I specifically searched for. I knew that I wanted a small golden bowl. Once I had the vision of what I wanted, it didn’t take long to find it.
Finally, I wear a gold bracelet from my mother. It has two meanings for me, the first being the love of my mother. I then anchored the thought of confidence and abundance to the bracelet. I wear this almost all the time and it’s a wonderful reminder for me.
Have fun selecting an object that works for you. Hunt around the house or browse in your favorite stores. You’ll know when you’ve found it!
